The Mercato Centrale Florence project, designed by Studio Archea Associati, transformed the first floor of the historic San Lorenzo market into a contemporary urban space: a meeting place that combines gastronomy, culture and social life.

Within this intervention, MM Contract collaborated on the fit-out of ten food venues and the main common areas, working closely with both the client and the individual operators inside the market.

The complexity of the project required precise management of the operational phases and strong coordination between designers, installers and artisan teams, ensuring furniture and technical solutions consistent with the architectural framework defined by Studio Archea.

The fit-out was completed in just four months: an extremely short timeframe for a total area of 2,600 sqm and for a project involving many different commercial operators.

The direct dialogue with Mercato Centrale and with the shop owners allowed MM Contract to respond quickly to the needs of each operator, balancing customisation, technical constraints and the overall consistency of the project.

The result is a dynamic, bright and recognisable environment where each food shop retains its own identity while remaining part of a unified architectural system.

Today, the project stands as one of the most successful examples of contemporary regeneration within a historic Florentine context: a place capable of bringing together tradition, conviviality and design.
